There's something in me like an extremely powerful tractor in low gear, and when it wants something, like a new white iPhone, or a jet black Mustang, its fierce ability to draw me! Draw me! Draw Me! can literally take over my life. Luckily, Apple has postponed release of the white iPhone until "later this year," and yesterday, I saw a Fourth-World gangster driving a black Mustang, so managed to somehow wrest myself away from my inner tractor of inexorable and irrational wanting a Mustang. Since it (my inner tractor) has such a short turning radius, I even managed to turn it around!

(Dream) Whitney and I are going into a tunnel, and instead, turn around, and somehow the two of us manage to pull the tunnel itself back through something. We go up to her apartment and sit down at a kitchen table. Dennis comes in, and I realize he's with her. Or maybe not. It's all kind of peaceful. (Fin)

August 1st (Dream) My friend and I have been goofing off all afternoon, his grand performance is tonight, and by the time he takes to the stage, I'm still on my afternoon nap. I half-wake and hear him in the middle of his routine, and then hear him stop. Damn! He's forgotten his line, or lost his idea. I get up, pull on my pants, and slightly amazed he's still paused half-sentence, walk up the aisle in the middle of the audience and up onto the stage where I whisper into his still-frozen ear, "Consultant!" and with that, he continues on his routine, "... consultant! ..." The audience regards me with some awe. (Fin)

(Dream) I'm at the movies, where my hand has somehow wandered too high up my ex-wife's thigh. She half-jumps, half-shrieks at this impropriety, then holds it against me the rest of the movie, refusing to talk to me or to calm down. She's clearly unhappy, and it's a real shame, because we're in the midst of so many happy people. (Fin)

(Dream) David Daniels' meeting is coming up, and now he's holding them next to the Safeway. I have a clever idea, which is to park on the other side of the tunnel, placing me smack on a snowy suburban road in St. Louis. There's something I seem to have forgotten, and frankly, I'm not all that concerned. It's in me somewhere, after all. I idly run my hands along the mail boxes near the door of our Philadelphia apartment, flipping half the open lids back closed again. There are a few other people with me as I park my car back on the snowy road, and after backing my car into a perfect spot just outside the tunnel, parking it, and opening the trunk, I discover my blue corduroy trousers. Hmm. Maybe that's what I forgot. I think I'm supposed to be wearing pants! (Fin)
