Red Hurts

Seafarers' skies today, cumulus humilis as far as the eye can see, mixed with altocumulus castellanus, changing to stratus formations. I know a girl named Mary, half American Indian, half Chinese. "You're way more Indian than Chinese," I told her today, and she said she and her husband have this argument all the time, "Which came first, the Indians or the Chinese?" We walked along the hall laughing and bumping arms. When we met again later, face to face, she told me the story of Marco Polo, how he had never seen paper money before his travels to China. Just as I was about to go, she added, "Be careful what you wish for!"
